Interrail Diary - Bled

Next stop Bled, I was particularly excited for going to Lake Bled as I’ve seen lots of amazing photos previously. Travelling through the mountains in Austria to Slovenia provided us with lovely views of the scenery so this was nice start. Once we arrived in the village and walked to our hostel, it was mad to see what people live like there, there are no pavements, crazy drivers and small shack like houses, very different to everywhere else we had visited.

On our first day we walked all the way around the lake, and it lived up to its reputation, the water is unbelievably clear and the views are amazing. We then hired a rowing boat and rowed to the centre of the lake where you can get off at the island. This was such a nice day compared to the amount of walking we had been doing.

The second day we took a trip to the Vintgar Gorge, clever us we decided to walk there which was a bit of a trek up the hills. The scenery whilst walking around the gorge was amazing so this again was another lovely day. Unfortunately the buses stop running at 1 so we had to walk all the way back to the village desperate for some food! Our favourite place in Bled was Rustika, definitely visit here for a pizza if you are in Bled, they are huge and very cheap!
